Mexican food tradition

Mexican food history

Mexican food is believed to have derived from the Mayan Indians
which were traditionally nomadic hunters and gatherers. Some
of the food that my ancestors would eat were corn tortilla, avocado,
tomatoes, beans, tropical fruits and fish. In the mid 1300's chili pepper, honey, salt, and chocolate was introduce and became part of our food tradition. When Spain invaded Mexico they brought with them new livestock, such as beef, rice, chicken, pork, cheese and onions which influenced Mexican cuisine.

                                         Today

Mexican food has had very small changes. Therefor today i eat similar things that my ancestors used to eat. Although i also eat fast food every now and then, most of the time my mom cooks our traditional Mexican food. We mostly eat chicken, enchiladas, tamales, tacos, and quesadillas. Sometimes i also eat fish and rice with beans. We also have food for special days like hollowing which we celebrate as the day of the dead when we eat "pan de muerto"

Do modern Americans have a strong food tradition?

I agree that modern America don't have a strong food tradition. Today Americans eat a variety of food from different cultures. Americans no longer have a stable food tradition. Many people from other places have come to america and brought in with them their own type of food. Because of this Americans now eat many different types of food and no longer have a strong food traditions themselves.

Others may say that Americans do have a strong food tradition, but i disagree with this. Although there are Americans who eat the food that their ancestors use to eat most of them don't. There are more choices as to what to eat now and not everybody eats their traditional food. This is why i disagree.
